Beacon GIS develops app for Fire Dept. Post Tornado Damage Assessment

On February 6th, 2020 a tornado traverse the length of the city. In the aftermath, the fire department conducts a damage assessment survey. This usually was done by paper and then transferred into technology for tabulation and mapping.

Using esri's Survey 123 webapp tools, Beacon GIS developed a Damage Survey Tool that allows fire crews to pin the location, describe the damage through the use of common checkboxes or optionally a text box, and take a photo. This quickens the accumulation of data and reduces the burden of work on the fire crews.

When storms threatened the city again, the tool was disseminated to other city departments to use such as public works and the urban forester.
